Product Stewardship

Our goal is to create safe, comfortable products that are easy to use. We strongly support global efforts to eliminate hazardous materials from all parts of the production process and packaging.

Product Development

Product Development

Poly has always made every effort to deliver products that exceed our customers' expectations. True to this endeavor, we have implemented a number of process improvements to help evaluate the use of alternative or "green" materials in products and packaging.

Our internal Green Design Team has worked to implement a formal environmental review process that takes into account evolving regulatory and customer requirements, as well as leading sustainability practices. In response to these design considerations, Poly has specified halogen-free and PVC-free materials in select new premium products going forward. In addition, Poly products began being designed phthalate free in 2011. We are currently working to remove phthalates from legacy products lines as well.

We've also made our power supply units more energy-efficient, which complies with global regulations on product power consumption.

Compliance And Reporting

Poly's long history of supporting environmentally sound manufacturing processes has been recognized by numerous cities, agencies, and organizations over the years.

RoHS and WEEE Compliance

We were one of the first companies to achieve full compliance with the European Union's (EU) Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive. We worked closely with our suppliers to help ensure that our entire supplier network followed RoHS requirements.

In Europe, we also led the way in complying with the EU's Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive: All discarded Poly products and packaging can be safely disposed of or recycled.

Environmental management software has also improved our reporting capabilities for hazardous-materials legislation such as RoHS, REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemical Substances), and California's Proposition 65. In addition, we access a data warehouse service to improve the level of information available about our product components.

ISO Certification

Each one of Poly's global facilities has ISO 9001 certification: We are recognized for having systems in place that ensure that we develop, produce, and deliver quality products. Our Mexico and Europe facilities have also achieved ISO 14001 certification, which ensures that we are constantly improving the ways our products are manufactured.

Commitment Letters

The letters below may be printed and distributed as necessary, to show our compliance with various environmental regulations around the world. Take Back Program

Takeback & Recycle Program

As a supplier of electronic communication products, Poly recognizes its Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and embraces the opportunity to help protect and preserve our environment by providing safe ways to dispose of electronic waste. With this goal in mind, we've created the Poly Takeback and Recycle Program as part of our corporate environmental initiative. Customers can be confident that Poly branded “end of life” products will be managed responsibly.

Conflict Minerals

Poly is committed to ethical business principles and promotion of human rights. This includes responsible manufacturing of our products and responsible sourcing of materials. Poly requires its suppliers to share in this commitment and has established the Supplier Code of Conduct which outlines our expectations of Poly suppliers in conducting business in a legal, ethical and responsible manner.

Poly’s Supplier Code of Conduct requires suppliers to ensure that parts and products supplied to Poly containing tungsten, tantalum, tin and gold be DRC Conflict-free. DRC Conflict-free parts and products contain no metals derived from “Conflict Minerals” such that they directly or indirectly finance or benefit armed groups through mining or mineral trading in the Democratic Republic of Congo, or adjoining countries where human rights violations are alleged. In accordance with Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Reform & Consumer Protection Act, Poly is working with its suppliers to conduct due diligence and implement policies and procedures so that Poly may make proper and accurate disclosures and to enable Poly products to be DRC Conflict-free. Due diligence methods employed by Poly and its suppliers are based on those described in the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas.
